Women Arent As Cool With One-Night Stands As Men

Lets start with one thing..Just like every study ever conducted, just because this doesnt apply to YOU doesnt mean it doesnt apply.

My Boyfriend Is Turned Off By My Hairy Legs.

Im 25 and have been dating a man who is 34 for the last 1.5 years. There is a lot to like about him he's smart, kind, caring, and dependable. He is almost the elusive alpha male nerd.

Am I Being Too Materialistic By Giving Up on a Financially Unstable Man?

I decided to get back into the dating world and I met this guy online four weeks ago. So its all still very early and very new. But a big worry for me is that is has absolutely no stability or consistency in his life.

When Do I Draw The Line When He Parties With the Boys?

My boyfriend loves partying weekends and some weeknights with his friends. We are in our late 20s and I party a bit too but dont consider it extremely important.

Want a Happy Marriage? Do This.

Want a Happy Marriage-Do This

I’m proud of the work I do here, but let’s face it: this ain’t brain surgery.

In fact I think most of the advice doled out in this space is pretty much common sense.

The issue for most of us is that common sense takes a holiday when it comes to the chemistry, sex, and emotion inherent in relationships.

That’s why I work so hard to give you a data-driven (not an ideology-driven) approach to dating. This stuff is not about what’s right and wrong, but about what’s effective and ineffective. In other words: “what works?” That’s what I want you to do.

Nobody has done this better than John Gottman. Back in the mid-80’s, Gottman set up a Love Lab to observe married couples. From the data he gathered, he separated the couples into two groups: the masters and the disasters. The masters were still happily together after six years. The disasters had either broken up or were chronically unhappy in their marriages. By monitoring their vital signs, Gottman observed something interesting:

“Masters felt calm and connected together, which translated into warm and affectionate behavior, even when they fought. It’s not that the masters had, by default, a better physiological make-up than the disasters; it’s that masters had created a climate of trust and intimacy that made both of them more emotionally and thus physically comfortable.”

This is one of many reasons I spend so much time talking about not being a slave to chemistry and finding an “easy” relationship. If you’re always on high alert – heart pounding, blood pounding, palms sweating – in the presence of your partner, you are constantly in fight or flight” mode. That’s not a great way to spend 40 years.

This stuff is not about what’s right and wrong, but about what’s effective and ineffective. In other words: “what works?”

Gottman deepened his research by observing couples interactions and labeled them “bids.” Bids are just basic requests. If I ask my wife to check out a new blog post I wrote, she can either “turn towards me” (and say yes) or “turn away from me” (ignore me or say no). Which do you think is healthier in a long-term relationship? Someone who takes an interest in you? Or someone who is dismissive or hostile to your needs?

Sure enough, Gottman observed that “couples who had divorced had “turn-toward bids” 33 percent of the time. Only three in ten of their bids for emotional connection were met with intimacy. The couples who were still together after six years had “turn-toward bids” 87 percent of the time. Nine times out of ten, they were meeting their partner’s emotional needs.”

People who give their partner the cold shoulder — deliberately ignoring the partner or responding minimally — damage the relationship by making their partner feel worthless and invisible, as if they’re not there, not valued…Being mean is the death knell of relationships.

Again, not terribly surprising, but important to realize nonetheless. We all know how we are prone to take for granted the people we love the most. We’re polite to our neighbors, to our servers, to our co-workers, but we will say the nastiest things to our partners.

That doesn’t fly. According to other studies, kindness and emotional stability are the most important predictors of satisfaction and stability in a marriage. (I’ve cited previous work which stated that the best husbands were the ones who were sensitive to their wives’ emotional cues and helped out with housework and childrearing).

Kindness and emotional stability are the most important predictors of satisfaction and stability in a marriage.

Emily Esfahani Smith, author of the Atlantic article from which these studies are quoted, summarizes these takeaways in one stunning paragraph.

“There are many reasons why relationships fail, but if you look at what drives the deterioration of many relationships, it’s often a breakdown of kindness. As the normal stresses of a life together pile up—with children, career, friend, in-laws, and other distractions crowding out the time for romance and intimacy—couples may put less effort into their relationship and let the petty grievances they hold against one another tear them apart. In most marriages, levels of satisfaction drop dramatically within the first few years together. But among couples who not only endure, but live happily together for years and years, the spirit of kindness and generosity guides them forward.

Your thoughts, below, are appreciated. And when you take a look at the comments on this thread (and others), pay attention to whether the poster sounds kind. If not, you might want to take his/her opinion with a grain of salt.

Mean people give shitty relationship advice.

My Ex Left Me With A Large Debt And I Don’t Know How to Explain It.

My Ex Left Me With A Large Debt And I Don’t Know How to Explain It

In some of your blogs, I read that you helped your wife get out of something like $40K of debt. My ex-husband has left me debt-ridden, about $40K, and although I have a good paying career, there are not many jobs right now. Plus I am raising my children still, 11 and 13, and have home-schooled them for many years. I’m also a grandmother and enjoy spending time with my grand babies. My oldest daughter is 25. I am 44.

With this much debt, and no immediate hope of paying it off, not to mention having lost the house in the divorce, I am worried that I will be too much of a financial burden for someone to take on. I have been told by some men that this is a selfish outlook on my part. They say that what I have to give, love, kindness, generosity, loyalty, good looks, intelligence, wonderful mother, are what will matter most. Am I just not feeling worthy? What is the best way for me to think about my situation and present it to a possible suitor.

I do expect that once the kids are off to college, I will make more money. I have made very good money in the past.

Thank you!
Jodee

You are a mother and grandmother who spends time with her grandbabies.
You have a good paying career.
And you home school your two kids?

You must be living in a parallel universe where there are 40 hours in a day.

Seriously, Jodee, you are some sort of superwoman, and God knows, you can’t keep a superwoman down.

You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control your reactions to it, as well as how you bounce back from it.

You know as well as I do that you can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control your reactions to it, as well as how you bounce back from it.

You got saddled with debt. Not your fault. But somehow, you’re questioning your own worth.

You have been told – and you believe – that your value comes in love, kindness, generosity, loyalty, attraction, intelligence, and being a great mother. Those are the exact same reasons I married my wife. They are the reasons that men generally choose women.

As such, you really don’t have anything to worry about.

Your debt is certainly not going to be a selling point, there’s also no reason for you to mention it to a man you’re dating.

While your debt is certainly not going to be a selling point, there’s also no reason for you to mention it to a man you’re dating. It’s your burden to handle, with or without a man.

Over time, you’ll become indispensable to your boyfriend and you can do the exact same thing my wife did, 9 months into our relationship: reveal the truth and why you held back on it.

You didn’t want him to judge. You’re working on it. It’s not his responsibility to pay for you.

It’s hard to argue with that logic. When you’re done with your confession, what you’ll get in return is a man who appreciates your self-sufficiency and your desire to shield him from this. Furthermore, you’ll probably inspire him to paying for everything – meals, trips, movies – just like I did with my wife while she pulled herself out of debt.

Soon, you can enter into a marriage debt-free, baggage-free and secret-free.

Do Tall Men Get Laid More?

Do Tall Men Get Laid More

Read enough relationship on the Internet and you’ll often hear a strain of men who complain that women are too focused on height. Their belief is that all women only go for the tallest, hottest, richest guys around – and that no one else even stands a chance.

And let’s face it: it IS harder being a shorter guy. Go to any online dating site, put that you’re 5’5″ and listen for the crickets. But, thankfully, online dating isn’t the only way to meet women, and thankfully, we have studies that can either confirm or deny our hypotheses.

Well, in an Elle/MSNBC Sex/Love Survey of over 60,000 people, the old trope that tall guys get MUCH more action than the rest of us has summarily been put to rest.

All things considered – it’s seen as advantageous to be tall, in practical terms, it seems like shorter than average guys end up doing just fine.

Per Susan Walsh at Hooking Up Smart:

The man who is 5’2″ has a mean number of 8 sexual partners. The 5’4″ guy has 10. And all the guys between 5’7′ and 6’2″ have 11-12 partners.

Taken further, Walsh (and Mona Chalabi at 538) concludes that the mean number of sex partners is consistent except for men under 5’4″.

So while – all things considered – it’s seen as advantageous to be tall, in practical terms, it seems like shorter than average guys end up doing just fine. Which makes sense, given that someone has to father other shorter than average guys in the future.

How Do I Let a Guy Know I’m Interested if I Don’t Kiss Until The 3rd Date?

How Do I Let a Guy Know I’m Interested if I Don’t Kiss Until The 3rd Date

I’m an attractive young woman (26) who is not super experienced with dating. I’ve been doing online dating and it’s been going pretty well and I’ve met some great guys. The problem I’m coming across is that they try to move really fast physically. I can’t blame or judge them, they’re guys and they’re different. The problem is I don’t know how to let them know I may not want to kiss until the 3rd or 4th date to feel comfortable and enjoy it. I’ll never be a first date kisser or even second date kisser and I think that’s perfectly reasonable especially if it’s a stranger I meet online. I could maybe get through it on the 2nd date but I’m still learning more about them and I don’t want to think of a kiss as “getting through it”.

How do I navigate this without pursuing a guy but letting him know I’m interested? I’m a slower mover and just because I don’t kiss on date one and have sex on date 5-6 doesn’t mean I’m not interested in them or that I’m a prude.

How do I date without giving in to their timeline and letting them make all the decisions on timing with the physical? I don’t judge them for wanting to move really fast so I don’t want them to judge me for needing some sort of emotional connection or a bit more time to feel excited and enjoy it. I know I’m a minority but I feel like I [we] need some advice.

Sincerely,

Brooke

Nick is a modern man who considers himself highly evolved. He thinks that women are equal to (and often greater than) men. And since he is bright and analytical – the kind of guy who questions things – it’s occurred to him that the old tradition of men paying for women on dates just seems so…anachronistic. Unfair. Silly, even. Nick’s concluded that the kind of woman he’s looking for is the one who doesn’t expect men to have to call and plan and pay for first dates. He’s looking for an equal, and an equal would have no problem with this obviously fair arrangement.

Nick wonders why he doesn’t get any second dates.

After all, he’s a great guy – honest, ethical, creative, and yes, even GENEROUS – once he feels a woman has earned the right to be the recipient of his generosity.

What would you tell Nick to do?

He could stick with the way he’s doing things. That’s what he feels is right. That’s what he’s comfortable with. He’s just not getting the response from women that he’d like.

On the other hand, he could adjust and pick up the check because it’s far more effective in making a good first impression.

Life is but a big Venn Diagram. There’s what you want. There’s what he wants.

Your situation really isn’t that different, Brooke.

Life is but a big Venn Diagram.

There’s what you want. There’s what he wants. The point on the graph where your two circles overlap is your relationship. The more overlap you have, the healthier the relationship. The more people you overlap with, the easier it will be to find a relationship.

I’m a Jewish atheist. If I made “Jewish atheist” a requirement for marriage, I would have restricted my search to .2% of the American population. And that’s before factoring in things like looks, personality, intelligence, kindness, emotional availability, common goals, etc.

I chose to open up. It’s not that it’s impossible to find people like me. There are just a lot fewer than I’d like. My “compromise” was marrying an attractive, cool, funny, smart, generous, kind, easygoing Catholic woman – and it’s a choice that makes me happy every single day.

You don’t want to compromise in this situation. You want men to compromise on your behalf.

You’re not giving men what they want. You’re doing what you want.

Unfortunately, that’s not how things work.

In any situation, you have two choices:

Do what you’re doing. Do something different.

You wrote to me because you “think it’s perfectly reasonable” to delay kissing until the third date, you don’t want to “give into their timeline” and insist that you’re not a prude.

Fine by me. No judgment here. You are not obliged to change one bit.

The problem is that your way isn’t working. You’re not happy with the results. So you turn to me for – what, exactly?

Permission to continue to do what you’re doing? Advice on how to make it work better? A script for how to explain your stance to men without sounding too uptight or awkward?

Honestly, I don’t get it.

You are not “wrong” for needing more time and connection before kissing.

You are wrong if you think that most men will be fine getting a speech and a hug when they’re going in for the kiss.

In short, Brooke, you’re not giving men what they want. You’re doing what you want.

That’s okay, but, from here, you’re no different than Nick, another wonderful person who remains shocked that women don’t respond to him, but refuses to compromise on his stance.

Time’s Up. By the End Of the Day, You’ll Be Losing This…

By the End Of the Day, You’ll Be Losing This

I know something about you.

It may sound silly, since I don’t really “know” you, but from all my years of working with women, I’ve discovered some common traits among my readers.

Here’s one that really resonates. Let me know if you think I’m on the right track:

You are generous.

Maybe you’ve never labeled yourself that way before, but perhaps holding up a mirror to you would reveal that “generous” is, in fact, the best description of you.

Have you ever spent long nights on the phone counseling a dear friend?

Have you ever spent thousands of dollars on veterinarian bills for a sick pet?

Have you ever worked longer than expected because you took pride in your work and wanted to please your boss or client?

Have you ever given an expensive gift to your less fortunate sister or your self-sacrificing mother?

Have you ever rushed to the hospital to be by the side of someone you loved?

Have you ever devoted time or money to a charity that goes above and beyond what the average person donates?

Finally, have you ever given more to a relationship than the relationship has given back to you?

I’ll bet you have.

What we see here is not that merely that you are generous in more ways one, but you are actually generous to a fault.

Now, to be fair, being generous is a good thing. Not only are you making an impact on the world around you, but you actually feel good when giving.

Think about the feeling you get after a Thanksgiving morning in a soup kitchen, or the sound of your niece’s squeals when she opens up her new bicycle.

One study concludes that donors feel happiest when giving fosters social connection – as opposed to making an anonymous donation.

Makes perfect sense.

We want to feel a connection with the people we’re giving to – which means we get a lot more pleasure giving Christmas gifts than we do writing a tax-deductible check to the Red Cross.

So, why am I bringing this up now, on the last day of this special Love U launch?

If anything, I wanted you to see something that I see in you:

You are so committed to giving to others that you may neglect your own needs.

You put yourself out for a friend, for a pet, for a loved one, but when do you get the opportunity to receive?

Not very often.

This is your chance.

I’m not telling you to suddenly cut off your monthly donation to ALS or RAINN.

I’m not telling you to return that iPad you bought for your Mom for the holidays.

I’m only telling you what you already know.

You need to be as generous with yourself as you are with others.

You’d do anything for someone you love. But you hesitate to do the easiest, smartest thing for your long-term happiness:

Join Love U.

Understand, I’m not against you taking another solo trip to Bali or redecorating your bathroom, or splurging on a spa weekend with the girls.

I just have to remind you that happiness doesn’t come from material goods or evanescent pleasures.

It comes from deep, meaningful, human connection – and nothing is deeper, more meaningful and more fulfilling than a happy marriage.

This is one area in which no one else can save you.

Your best friend can’t help you understand men.

Your sister can’t teach you to date online.

Your mom can’t teach you to be confident wherever you go.

Your dog can’t outline the most important qualities to look for in a man.

It’s generous for you to take care of them, but who’s taking care of you – if not you?

After midnight tonight, you will no longer be able to get the following:

26 weeks of Love U videos.
26 weeks of Love U exercises.
Three free value-added bonuses with over 10 hours of content.
The extended payment plan, at 50% off, lowers your monthly investment from $133 to $67.

Right now, this is all available to you.

Tomorrow, it’s not.

Thus, it’s really simple.

If you’re satisfied with your love life as it is right now and would be fine being in this exact same position next year, do nothing.

If you’re dissatisfied and want to feel loved by a man forever, click here.

Even if you didn’t take advantage of this special offer, I hope you took value out of the emails, the videos, and the dialogue. I hope you challenged yourself on what you can do differently, and on understanding how men really think.

No matter what, I remain committed to staying in touch with you and giving you as much valuable information as I can in these newsletters.

Click below before 11:59pm tonight to register for Love U and join other smart women who are also ready for love.

Give me 5 minutes a day and I will give you a husband.

Many thanks and warmest wishes,

Your friend,

Evan

P.S. April made the commitment to be generous to herself and joined my group coaching program.

I can’t believe how much I learned from Evan’s coaching. I’m one of the participants who came in and did a lot of things the opposite of how Evan coaches us, fell right on my butt, dusted myself off, and then did it the right way and had these amazing results. If Evan helped me figure this out? He can do it for anyone.

Now, I’m in an amazing marriage with a really wonderful man. Easily the best and most healthy relationship of my life. And I’m happy. Really happy. Not euphoric, “This is too good to be true, when will the other shoe drop” happy, but truly content, peaceful and so excited about the future. Evan helped me to attract and keep an amazing man who makes me feel special and cherished and oh, by the way? He’s gorgeous. smart, funny and extremely successful – and that, my friend, is really just icing on the cake.

Now I feel as lucky and blessed in my relationship as I do in all the other areas of my life. I used to wonder how I managed to figure out everything in life but love. I thought the really amazing relationships were for someone else. Now I realize I just didn’t have the right mindset or tools. The adjustments I made were so minor, yet they had such an amazing impact on my life. Thank you, Evan, for everything.

April

As always, I don’t make these up.

As always, this can be yours.

As always, it’s up to you.

By this time tomorrow, your chance to understand men and find love for $2.18/day will be gone.

It’s now or never.

I sure hope it’s now.

See you inside Love U!

Your friend,

Evan

Your Time, Your Money, Your Happiness, and Your Questions Answered

Your Time, Your Money, Your Happiness, and Your Questions Answered

Maybe the holidays make me more self-reflective.

I watch my kids – now 3 and 4 – developing personalities, cultivating interests, making friends, growing up.

I want to keep them frozen in time.

Teach them everything I know without them getting hurt.

I know this is not possible. Instead, I do my best to appreciate what I have and make the most of my limited time with them.

And let’s face it: time is the most precious gift in the world and love is the world’s most precious commodity.

So how are you allocating your time these days?

How many hours per week do you spend at work?

How many hours per week do you spend commuting?

How many hours per week do you spend with people you love?

How many hours per week do you spend learning or growing?

How many hours per week do you spend in the pursuit of love?

Tally it up and you’ll see what I see every day.

You know that connecting with others, learning and finding lasting love are the keys to your long-term happiness. But where do you spend all your time?

That’s right.

You spend the least amount of time doing the things that give you the most pleasure.

Time is the most precious gift in the world and love is the world’s most precious commodity.

I’ll admit: I’m very lucky.

I’m my own boss. I work from home. I don’t work nights or weekends because being a good husband and father is more important than any career successes.

But I also know that this is rare. Sometimes your life gets a bit out of whack – where you lose sight of your priorities and you can’t seem to get things under control.

Well, today is your big chance.

Women from all over the world have been emailing me this week to learn more about Love U, my one-of-a-kind program helps you understand men and find love.

Since time is at a premium – and since I can’t conceivably write back emails to every woman who is curious about Love U – I have decided to answer them all here.

“I’m a busy woman with lots of previous obligations. How much time is Love U going to take me?”

The very point of Love U is to bring this world-class material into your hands in a fun, digestible fashion that does not require you to redo your schedule.

Now, I often compare the process of finding love with the process of losing weight. But there’s one big difference:

Losing weight is an arduous process. It never ends.

You watch what you put in your mouth each day for the rest of your life.

You exercise each day for the rest of your life.

Contrast that with Love U, in which one aha moment can change everything.

One two-and-a-half minute video can make a light bulb go on over your head, illuminating your path to the altar.

And that’s why – when my readers told me in a survey they were willing to give 2-3 hours to Love U every week – I got really excited.

I don’t need you to give me 2-3 hours.

To watch the videos, you need 30 minutes per week or 5 minutes a day.

You can knock it out all at once like watching a half-hour sitcom, or you can just look at the videos on your phone before you go to sleep.

Believe me, if you have time to brush your teeth, you have time to do Love U.

“Why does Love U last 6 months? I’ve seen other programs that are only 6 weeks.”

Either those 6-week programs are force-feeding you more than you can handle…or more likely, they’re really limited in scope. That doesn’t mean they’re bad.

It means they are not doing anything nearly as comprehensive as Love U.

Take an amazing program like Calling in the One, which is 7 weeks of healing your past. But despite its considerable merits, it doesn’t tell you what to do NEXT.

• How to gain confidence and enjoy the dating process.
• How to flirt and make cute men take notice.
• How to date online and attract the highest quality guys.
• How to deal with texting and sex and dating multiple people.
• How to be selective and avoid wasting time on losers.
• How to understand men and be the only woman who “gets” him.
• How to have healthy boundaries and assert your needs.
• How to communicate and make men want to please you.
• How to break up when it’s time to move on and cut your losses.
• How to be a great girlfriend that gets a great guy to propose.

That much stuff simply can’t be taught, digested and implemented in 7 weeks.

Love U allows you to learn with very little effort, by breaking this material into digestible weekly chunks. This way, you will never get burned out, and you will be able to put the lessons into practice effectively.

And if you still want the quick-fix miracle where you think positive thoughts and manifest Mr. Right in a month, well, then, you’re correct: Love U is not for you. :-)

“When can I expect to see results from Love U?”

Instantly.

I don’t mean that facetiously. I mean that quite literally.

What I love about Love U is that once you learn something, you never forget it.

So when you dive into our first week and watch those first videos, I am going to bring you back from the depths of despair, reframe your negativity, and give you an instant jolt of confidence that will carry you through this entire program.

Every week, you are going to have some major aha moment that reshapes your perspective on dating, relationships, and men.

And before you know it, everyone you know will see a difference.

Your friends. Your family. And especially the guy you end up dating.

So while I will never make a promise I can’t keep, I will say this with all sincerity:

Nobody has ever worked with me and said, “Man, that guy didn’t know anything. He didn’t care. I didn’t learn a thing that I didn’t already know.”

You are going to gain so much wisdom each week, by the time you graduate, you will have no more blind spots when it comes to men and relationships.

In other words, if you don’t have a boyfriend by the time you graduate Love U, the question is not a matter of if – it’s only a matter of when.

“I just don’t know if it’s worth the money.”

Really? Look at your credit card statement.

Take a look at what you spend money on.

Car. Gym. Hair. Gas. Makeup.

Shoes. Clothing. Gifts. Restaurants. Classes.

Travel. Gadgets. Antiques. Hobbies.

I’m sure we could go on, but if this is where your money is going, can you really say with a straight face that any of this is more important than LOVE?

Let’s look at it another way – pre-boyfriend and post-boyfriend.

Would you rather buy dinner for one or have a man who takes you out to dinner?

Would you rather spend thousands on home improvement or find a guy who is handy around the house?

Would you rather travel with a girlfriend or stay in a honeymoon suite?

When all is said and done, there is literally NOTHING more important than love.

And for the price of a cup of coffee each day, I will answer your most pressing questions about dating, sex, men and relationships so that you will gain confidence, awareness, experience, motivation, perspective and success.

If you’d rather invest that same money in something else, that’s fine.

But don’t tell me that $133/month for 6 months is too much to spend on finding a spouse.

You spent $100,000 on a college education and you forgot everything you learned.

My area of expertise – self-esteem, love, and happiness – is far more important and will pay infinitely greater dividends in your future.

“Okay, Evan, it’s worth the money. I just don’t want to SPEND the money.”

That’s a little closer to the truth.

And I completely get it:

You don’t want to spend money on something that seems unnecessary.

After all, millions of women find love without Love U.

Why should you have to invest in a course to find love?

Great question.

But I have a question to your question:

How many more years do you want to struggle with men?

How many more years do you want to be alone?

How many more years will you invest your time, energy and money in things that are comparatively frivolous – cars, vacations, furniture, fashion, beauty?

How many more years are you going to deny how much you want to be loved just because you’re afraid of failure?

Because to me, THAT’s the crux of it.

If you don’t have a boyfriend by the time you graduate Love U, the question is not a matter of if – it’s only a matter of when.

You’re not afraid of investing the money in a quality program like Love U.

You’re afraid of what happens if this doesn’t work.

You’re afraid of doing anything different – and you justify it by staying in the exact same place you are today. Low-stakes, low-rewards. Spending more time at work than on love, even though you know that love makes the world go ‘round.

So I am certainly not saying that Love U’s monthly cost is nothing.

I’m saying that when you look back in 30 years at how happy you were to have spent your life with one special man, you will certainly not remember the $4/day it took to get you there.

I am now married to a wonderful man that I met about 2 years ago on Match. I cannot overemphasize how important your guidance and advice was in finding the right person for me. I worked with you in different capacities over half a year I think. I tried match, eHarmony, speed dating, blind dates, ItsJustLunch and went on over 80 dates with about 40 people.

It was exhausting and disappointing. Really hard. The hardest thing I have done in my life apart from going through a divorce and then a failed engagement. I read lots of books on dating (for the first time in my late 30s) and spoke with girlfriends and family, but your sharp advice kept me focused and gave me invaluable perspective. I chose to believe you and followed your advice as I was lost without it – it gave me hope where I thought no hope existed.

At the end it happened exactly the way you predicted it. While I was struggling with the tedious, demanding, exhausting dating life, he was going through a divorce and recovering. One day the wife of his best friend signed him up for Match. I winked at him. He wrote me a thoughtful response. I was his second date from Match and it instantly clicked. We were married in September after a year of dating.

All I can say is THANK YOU. Keep doing what you are doing – you are so good at it. You were the wizard in my love story.

The Biggest Lie Ever Perpetrated by Parents, Couples and Self-Help Gurus

Biggest Lie Ever Perpetrated by Parents, Couples and Self-Help Gurus

Over the past few weeks, I’ve read your comments.

I know how much men have disappointed you.

I know you’re wary of taking a chance and opening your heart again.

I know you’re looking for a shortcut that will immediately let you know if a guy is a player, slacker, jerk, or alcoholic.

With such men…

You will constantly cry.
You will constantly fight.
You will constantly be disappointed.
You will constantly question yourself.
You will constantly agonize about where things are going.
You will constantly obsess how you can love someone so much and be so unhappy.

But it does beg the question, doesn’t it?

If you are not consistently happy, why are you in the relationship at all?

It’s a tough question – and you may not have a ready answer for it.

Your first reaction may be to protest, but I’m going to challenge you to consider that I’m telling you a cold hard truth that is hard to accept:

You’ve hung onto the wrong men for your entire adult life.

In fact, that tenacity is a quality you took pride in – being able to push through, hold on tight and try to work things out with your partner.

Yet no relationship you’ve ever worked hard at has EVER lasted. Has it?

Which brings me to one of the biggest epiphanies I had about relationships.

This is what has allowed me to be a happily married man, and what has helped me facilitate thousands of other happy relationships as well.

What I’m about to tell you is the #1 thing you need to know to choose a husband.

If you are not consistently happy, why are you in the relationship at all?

The best way to know if a guy is right for you is the absence of anxiety.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Consider the times in your life when you’ve been happiest.

Were you up in the middle of the night thinking?

Were you distracted at work?

Were you constantly torn between staying and breaking up?

Of course not.

Yet that’s what you’ve been like when your relationships stopped making you happy, and you thought that was normal.

You thought that was love.

Uh uh.

Thus, you’ve bought into the biggest lie ever perpetrated by parents, couples counselors, clergy members, and self-help gurus:

“Relationships take work!”

Based on your life experience, I’m sure you’d feel the same way.

Every relationship you’ve ever had was not only work, but it was TOO much work.

Frustration that boiled over when he didn’t listen to your needs.

Anger at yet another conversation that turned into a screaming match.

Anxiety of wondering where the relationship was going.

Confusion of wondering how this man you loved could be so insensitive to your feelings.

Resignation that the man you knew during those first few months was never going to live up to his potential.

Yep, that describes most relationships. But does it have to?
All relationships take some effort, but when that effort starts to feel like actual work, your relationship is not serving its purpose.

When I look at my happy marriage and the happy marriages of my clients, those relationships all have one overriding quality:

They’re EASY.

If that sounds hard to believe, that’s because you’ve never chosen an easy relationship before.

For you, love has always meant arguments, insults and insecurity.

Or maybe you’re used to placid men where you never fought, but you were bored, uninspired, and constantly second guessing why you were there.

But your struggles don’t say anything about love itself.

They only something about the men you’ve chosen.

So please, consider this simple and priceless pearl of wisdom.

A good relationship is easy. If it’s not easy, it’s not that good.

Your entire life, you’ve tried to fit a square peg in a round hole.

For years, you’ve fallen for men and tried to justify why they were a long-term fit, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

You cried and fought, and broke up and made-up, and vented to your friends and family, all because you thought that this was NORMAL.

All because “relationships take work.”

Sorry, my friend. They don’t take that much work.

Let me put it another way:

If you tried on a pair of shoes and they didn’t fit, would you keep trying them on for TWO STRAIGHT YEARS?

No way.

You might think it’s too bad the shoes didn’t fit you.

You might admire how gorgeous the shoes looked.

But I can guarantee you wouldn’t continually force your feet inside them.

All relationships take some effort, but when that effort starts to feel like actual work, your relationship is not serving its purpose.

This is what you’ve been doing with men forever.

This is what you’re going to do differently – starting right now.

You wasted years on the wrong men and never paid attention to the right men.

But that begs the question: WHERE ARE the right men?

That’s what you want to know.

In your mind, if I could tell you the one place to meet these theoretically great guys, you’d handle the rest.

This is the opportunity I am offering to you today.

Instead of standing around, hoping to win the love lottery, you can create the relationship of a lifetime just by taking a series of smart and achievable actions.

You’ve been waiting for luck, timing, and fate to intervene.

But that’s not the way love usually works.

Your success rests in YOUR hands.

That may seem exciting. That may seem scary.

But from this moment forward, you will have the ability to determine your own fate.

• You will be able to effortlessly let go of the pain and negativity in your past.

• You will carry yourself with unshakable confidence in all dating situations.

• You will attract quality men and make them invest in you before meeting.

• You will be an incredible first date who always gets a second date.

• You will enjoy dating, knowing that you’re in control of the entire process.

• You will easily handle sexual situations, maintain healthy boundaries, and make your man want to come back for more.

• You will never worry about breaking up with a guy out of fear that you can’t do better.

• You will understand what he’s thinking and why he does what he does.

• You will be able to tell men how to please you and get what you want from your relationship.

• You will learn the difference between chemistry and compatibility and use that information to choose a healthy, long-term partner.

• You will act with confidence and trust and inspire your man to do the same.

And most importantly:

• You will have the fun, passionate, lasting love you’ve always dreamed about.

Since 2003, I have helped women like you create better relationships.

I am one of the first dating coaches and one of the better known ones for one primary reason: my clients get results.

If you read my emails regularly, you know: every one ends with a testimonial from a happy client who broke her bad man habit and found a better one.

I’ve been sending out these emails every week since the inception of my business.

So it’s never been a question of whether coaching works.

The only question is what’s the best way to do it?

Well, this year, I finally figured it out.

I’ve created a way to walk you through everything I know.

I’ve developed a foolproof process to answer all of your questions.

This has been my dream for the past five years and the primary thing I’ve been working on all year.

I’ve taken my best material – collated from 1000 blog posts, 300 newsletters, 4 books, and hundreds of hours of coaching calls – and put it all into one curriculum.

It’s called Love U – and today, I’m announcing that, for the first time since May, enrollment is now open.

This program is only for women like you who are done wasting time on the wrong men and are serious about finding love fast.

Soon you’ll understand everything there is to know about the opposite sex, so that you can have the relationship you deserve!

This limited-time opportunity to learn everything I know is only available until Sunday, December 20th, so click here to learn more.

Warmest wishes and much love,

Your friend,

Evan

P.S. 250 women have just graduated from Love U. Nancy is one of them.

A fifty-something widow who had been through two bad marriages, Nancy registered as a private client in my Love U Masters Course back in May.

She had little dating experience, little confidence, and little trust in her ability to navigate men and relationships successfully. After going through the short weekly videos and talking on the phone every other week, Nancy wrote me this email:

I feel like I’ve been having some real ‘Aha’ moments over the last couple of weeks. The idea of ’embracing uncertainty’ was significant for me. I got home last night after spending 11 days out of town. I have been listening to the Love U modules and calls on the road, and also spending time talking with some very good friends. I am feeling really good about where I am right now. I’m happy with myself…how I’m handling my relationship with David…just happy. It feels great. My very dearest friend, who I just saw, told me that she is seeing a lightness in my step. I love to hear that.

Here are some things that are really sticking with me from Love U:

1. My communication style. I have always tried to communicate in a kind, friendly manner. In the past, I felt that I should be willing to be more confrontational, not so wimpy. I really liked the module that spoke about the compliment sandwich. I feel affirmed about how I like to communicate. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be kind….I’m not a wimp, I’m just a nice person.

2. Acceptance. I am embracing the idea of accepting your partner. Really accepting. I definitely entered both of my marriages with the idea that I would be changing my husbands. How freeing to let that go, and focus on accepting a partner for who they are. And, of course, if I can’t accept them, then they are not the right partner :)

3. The module this past week where you shared your proposal story really hit me. What impacted me the most was how you described your indecision, and how your wife could not (and should not) have changed anything about herself. I like myself. I had work to do, definitely. I have to move past my fear and allow myself to open up, but at my core, I like who I am. I don’t want to change. The right man will like who I am, and won’t want me to change.

Are you sick of changing for men who don’t appreciate you?

It doesn’t have to be that way.

You can find an easy relationship just like Nancy did.
